| What happens if the batteries
die or I lose power?
The
MyKey 2300 has several built-in security measures to ensure you will
never be locked out of your home. By running on 4 standard AA batteries,
NO POWER is drawn from your home to run the lock. This
means a would-be intruder CAN NOT cut power lines and gain
access to your home.
The
AA batteries last up to 1 year without ever changing them, given
normal usage. What happens if the batteries die while your out
of your home? The MyKey 2300 has a backup battery terminal! Simply
touch a 9v battery to the built-in battery terminal and your MyKey
2300 is up and running. The MyKey even stores all of your existing
security keys, so even if it's without power, when you turn it
back on your access cards and pin combination are fully intact!
Can someone walk right in to your home if the batteries die when
you're out? No! The MyKey 2300 would power down in a locked state,
making it impossible to be unlocked without first powering it up,
and then waving your access card or entering your pin. The MyKey
2300 holds the deadbolt in the locked position mechanically, NOT
ELECTRONICALLY, so even without power, it can not be unlocked
by force.
